The Mitten - Fine Art Print
‘The Mitten’ Fine Art Print
‘The owl didn’t want to be left out. So the mole, the rabbit and the hedgehog had to move over. The Little mitten was getting crowded….’
This hand illustrated and painted print by Forivor’s Alice brings to life the woodland creatures of the Ukrainian folktale ‘The Mitten’. This Giclée artwork is printed onto the finest Hahnemühle German etching paper by specialist fine art printers in the UK. This beautiful heavyweight paper has a slightly warm base tone and a strong mottled texture which gives our hand illustrated design a high quality, crafted feel. Each print feels like it has been painted and makes the perfect gift for a nursery or children’s bedroom.
We will be donating £10 from each sale of the print to the Legacy of War Foundation which helps individuals and communities rebuild their lives after the trauma of war. The idea for The Mitten came from Rebecca and Alice reaching out to the chefs Olia Hercules and Alissa Timoshkina to ask how they could support their incredible #cookforukraine campaign. We asked Olia to choose her favourite Ukrainian story or poem so we could create an illustration to offer in one of their fundraising events. Olia chose The Mitten, which tells the story of a boy who loses his mitten in the snow. The discarded mitten becomes a little knitted home for woodland creatures, who seek refuge from the cold. It is a fable about kindness which remains close to the hearts of Ukrainian children and adults today.
