The Space Above the Ground is Forivor’s award-winning collection inspired by the invisible connections between the natural world, from insect pollinators and migratory birds to the stars above us. At its heart is a story about three children who set off on a magical nighttime adventure, brought to life through hand-drawn illustrations and a specially created storybook.

On the Dayland side of the design, the three children climb among the branches of an old ash tree. They find faces in the clouds, watch birds passing overhead and discover a tiny world of caterpillars and beetles making their way along the branches. Around them, the natural world is busy preparing for night. The caterpillars will soon transform, while above the treetops birds begin their own extraordinary journeys through the sky.

Turn over the bedding and the familiar world becomes something altogether more fantastical. Giant moth-air balloons lift the three children into a star-filled cosmos, while the caterpillars they discovered by day have transformed into magnificent moths. A pair of trumpeting bees guard the magical pink sap of the ash tree, and the branches become the starting point for an adventure stretching from the tiny world of insects to the vastness of the stars.

The specially created storybook follows the three children and the creatures they encounter on their journey through Forivorland. Along the way, it introduces some of the real wonders that inspired the collection - from the stars above us and the ecosystems of insect pollinators to the awe-inspiring journeys of migratory birds. Our Space Above the Ground collection encourages children to look upwards, look closely and imagine the invisible connections between the worlds around them.
