Secret Skies is Forivor’s bird-inspired collection of bedding and accessories, exploring the extraordinary lives of birds and our ancient fascination with them. The collection weaves together the natural world, folklore and mythology, inspired by the idea that birds and humans have been watching each other for 300,000 years.
By day, the hand-drawn illustrations introduce a cast of real birds and the fascinating relationships they have with the world around them. The magpie is drawn to precious treasures, the blackbird learns new songs each year and the stork carries centuries of folklore with it. Look closely and the Dayland side reveals a world of bird behaviour, migration and human fascination - a reminder that these creatures have been our neighbours for thousands of years.
High above our heads are the world’s secret flyways: invisible routes followed by millions of migrating birds as they travel between breeding grounds and winter feeding grounds, crossing countries and continents in journeys that can stretch for thousands of miles. Even if you climbed to the very top of the Empire State Building, you would only be beginning to enter this extraordinary world in the sky. It is a vast motorway above us that we rarely see.
We began the collection by asking why the stork had become so synonymous with delivering babies to their parents. As we explored the answer, we discovered how often folklore and fairytales have their roots in the real world - and how easily mythology and reality can sit side by side. That idea became the heart of Secret Skies: a celebration of the birds that share our world, the remarkable journeys they make and the stories we have invented about them. Turn the bedding over and let those stories take flight, imagining the secret lives of our feathered neighbours when we are asleep.
